TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko has rebuffed criticisms aimed at the current administration’s infrastructure development programs.
He maintained that criticisms against infrastructure development were misguided and should be clarified. Moeldoko said President Jokowi focused his efforts on fixing and improving infrastructure as Indonesia was still lagging behind other countries.
“For the past 4-years, Indonesia has constructed 784 kilometers of toll roads. China learned from Jagorawi toll road, but it has now built 280,000 kilometers of toll roads. This is sad,” said Moeldoko on Monday.

The former Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) commander explained toll roads were not the only example of infrastructure the Jokowi administration developed, but there were also others—including10 airports and the repair of those with deteriorating condition.
Moeldoko said the misjudgment stemmed from rampant hoaxes and false news by irresponsible parties. “There was paradoxical news that was spread so easily yet against facts. The government has worked tirelessly, but this was spoiled by hoaxes, slanders.”
